When I was a teenager, I collected broken electronics and repaired them in my free time. I greatly enjoyed making broken electronics work again. It seems like there is always a new "gadget" on the market that helps solve a problem that many people have. If you're like many people, you might use your cell phone constantly as a part of your day-to-day life. Therefore, if you are planning an upcoming camping trip, you might think that simply bringing along your smartphone should be sufficient. However, many people find that investing in two-way radios, like the Explore MSAT G3, and bringing them camping is a better choice. Here's why.
1. Avoid Loss of Signal
For one thing, depending on where you are going to be setting up your campsite, there is a good chance that you might not get the best signal on your smartphone. The last thing that you probably want to find yourself dealing with is trying to get a signal on your phone when you're trying to find the others who you are camping with. With two-way radios, however, you do not have to worry about losing your cell phone signal, since you'll still be able to communicate with your camping companions.

If you've got your smartphone with you, there's a good chance that you might find yourself snapping selfies or checking social media from time to time. Even though there is certainly nothing wrong with having fun with your smartphone, it can be nice to really connect with nature while you're camping instead. If you leave your smartphone at home or limit how much you bring it out with you when you're enjoying your outdoor activities, you can help ensure that you actually disconnect from the world and actually enjoy your surroundings.
4. Enjoy a Longer Battery Life
Two-way radios are designed for outdoor use. Plus, you don't have to worry about them having a bunch of apps or other programs that cause the batteries to die. Therefore, you might find that you enjoy a much longer battery life with your two-way radios than with your smartphone, which is obviously convenient when you're out in the wilderness.
